A SANKHA , which is believed to be a sacred heraldic device of the Hindu God Vishnu, has a very religious importance in Hinduism. According to the mythology, the blowing of SANKHA enhances the positive psychological vibrations such as optimism, hope, willpower, and courage. It has been extensively used as religious object of importance since ancient times. It is made from the shell of large sea snail found in Indian ocean. When the air is blown through the outer hole of the conch at a very high pressure the distinct sound is made, which is believed to make one’s lung stronger while doing it. At Hindu households it is also worshiped and while at puja’s it is kept at a very specific way. Especially keeping the Right-handed SANKHA at home are considered very auspicious, which are believed to attract good health, wealth, and prosperity in the household. And according to Vastu Shastra (science of dwelling), one should place the SANKHA on the right-hand side of the alter and while placing it the one should always wash the SANKHA and enchant mantra which is- “Sudarsnastrayafat”.
