DAHI THEKI (Decorated Wooden Curd Container)

Theki is hand crafted from the hollow trunk of the tree traditionally Darigithho wood or rhododendron wood. Usually, Theki is used to store and churn yogurt into buttermilk to produce butter. In Hindu culture Dahi( yogurt ) is considered auspicious food and usually offered during pooja’s (prayers). This is one special theki, decorated with clothes and ornaments, prepared mainly for Hindu marriage. It's carried to ceremony by groom's side.
