Nariwal Supari Tray

This decorated tray consisting of supari (beetle nut), nariwal (coconut), small statue of lord Ganesh is an important piece of Nepalese wedding. The supari (Beatle nut) is used as a formal announcement and acceptance of the new relationship between bride and groom and the family. The groom side must formally bring supari to bride family as acceptance of nuptial before other events can proceed. Nariwal (coconut) and supari (beatal nut) are used in many Hindu traditions as an auspicious item.
